As part of the Medichem Group, a leading Spanish pharmaceutical organisation, Medichem Manufacturing (Malta) LTD specialises in developing and manufacturing high-quality Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) while Combino Pharm (Malta) LTD, focuses on Finishes Dosage Forms (FDFs).

Together, we deliver high-quality medicinal substances and products to the global market, with a strong emphasis on Europe and the US. Both of our advanced facilities in the Hal Far Industrial Estate are certified by EU GMP and approved by the US FDA, and we’ve been proudly operating in Malta for 20 years.
We are now seeking a motivated and skilled individual to join us in the role of:

Cost Controller

As a Cost Controller, the person will report directly to the Head of Accounts and Administration in Malta. This role is essential for coordinating financial operations across Medichem Manufacturing (Malta) LTD and Combino Pharm (Malta) LTD. The chosen candidate will work closely with various departments to monitor costs, improve efficiency, and contribute to strategic decision-making.

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitor and Analyse Costs: Compare real costs to standard costs to ensure accuracy and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support Cost System Maintenance: Assist in maintaining and updating the Standard Cost System.
  • Enhance Stock Management: Help control stock levels and optimise efficiencies in inventory management.
  • Collaborate with Operations: Work closely with the Plant Manager and operations teams to meet budgeting goals and improve overall efficiency.
  • Develop Reporting Procedures: Establish and refine systems to track monthly operational manufacturing costs.
  • Establish KPIs: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for production costs, both direct and indirect.
  • Assess Plant Efficiency: Measure plant utilisation and idle capacity to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support New Product Launches: Collaborate with the Plant Manager to assess and establish the real production cost for new product launches.

The Position Requires:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience working in cost management accounting.
  • Being conversant with Microsoft Office software, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with ERP systems (knowledge of SAP will be considered an asset).
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Able to work in a team environment.
