Health & Safety
At Medichem, we consider Occupational Safety and Health to be one of the most important pillars of our success. They are permanent and fundamental aspects in every one of our business activities.
We are a chemical-pharmaceutical company engaged in the development, manufacture and marketing of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) for international industry, and both our production factories and our analysis and control laboratories, R&D&i department, technical offices and services care for and protect the safety and health of our workers. This is the KEY to our success.
Our Occupational Safety and Health Policy is based on seven basic principles:
- 1. Guarantee the utmost safety for the people, facilities and environment; detect risk situations and the origin thereof by applying adequate techniques; and apply all corrective and preventive measures that may be necessary and possible.
- 2. Continuously improve the conditions of job positions.
- 3. Use production processes that, under normal conditions, do not involve or that minimally involve a risk to the Safety and Health of people.
- 4. Train and inform workers on aspects related to Safety and Health at their job position and orient that training towards continuous improvement.
- 5. Promote worker participation in subjects related to occupational safety and health.
- 6. Transmit the principles of occupational safety and health to outside associates who perform jobs at Medichem.
- 7. Comply with all legislative requirements in force regarding Occupational Risk Prevention.
Environment
Environmental awareness has always been, and will continue to be, one of the most important features for Medichem. We maintain a close relationship with our environment carrying out our activities with the greatest respect to protect it.
As an example of it, we just recently updated our WWTP (Waste Water Treatment Plant) with the installation of a brand new, state of the art oxidation unit, which uses the technology of Peroxide Oxidation OHP ®. This technique is considered to be a BAT (Best Available Technologies) by the EU.
The adoption of this technology allows a sustainable growth of our plants.
We are extremely strict in applying the guidelines regarding the use of water and gas emissions. We constantly strive to maintain our identity as an ”environment-friendly company”.
Our respect for the environment was certified in July 2001 with the granting of ISO 14001 certification, which makes us feel particularly proud and encourages us to continue working with the same principles.
