

The latest FDA inspection of our Spanish plant in Celrà (Girona) in April resulted in no form 483 (no observations were noted) for the fourth consecutive time.
The inspection was carried out by a small team of FDA officers and covered general GMP systems, as well as five different APIs.
With this outcome Medichem became part of an exclusive group of pharmaceutical companies that completed four consecutive inspections without any observation.




The Malta plant in Hal Far, which started operations in November 2005, received FDA approval in February 2008.

From January 29th to February 1st, Medichem exhibited at InformEx USA 2008 in New Orleans. InformexUSA attracts specialty and fine chemical companies that offer custom chemical manufacturing. As the premier networking event for the chemical industry in the United States, InformexUSA is designed to showcase the chemistry capabilities of high-value, high-quality businesses.

From October 2nd to 4th, Milan hosted a new edition of the CPhI Worldwide, the world's largest pharmaceutical professionals' trade fair, which brings together the most important companies in the sector.
As in the past editions of the CPhI Worldwide Medichem had a significant presence with a stand, shared with our sister company Combino Pharm.
During the three days of the show, we met a large section of our current partners and we had the chance to present our company and products to potential worldwide clients and suppliers

InformEx USA is the leading global marketplace for networking and succeeding in the fine, custom and specialty batch chemical manufacturing industry. This year even more than 500 companies from the custom chemical industry exhibited.
On the exhibition floor Medichem again had the chance to network with peers, strengthen our business relationship and forge new ones. Furthermore, Medichem took the opportunity to feature our capabilities and technologies during the exhibitor showcases one day prior to the exhibition.

ISO 9001 certification was obtained for our plant in Malta in January 2007.

The inspection was carried by a small team of inspectors of the FDA. This was an exceptionally comprehensive and tough inspection covering eight separate APIs by a team of FDA inspectors.
With this outcome Medichem became part of an exclusive group of pharmaceutical companies that completed three consecutive inspections without any observation.

From October 3rd to 5th, Paris hosted a new edition of the CPhI Worldwide, the world's largest pharmaceutical professionals' trade fair, with over 1,400 exhibitors and more than 22,000 visitors from 125 countries.

By compressing the worldwide custom chemical industry into one comprehensive and focused environment of business interactions, InformEx hosted more than 480 companies and 4100 attendees in Orlando.
InformEx provided a unique opportunity for Medichem to meet with many of our clients and to contact also key decision maker in the Contract Manufacturing area.
The world’s leading custom chemical trade show was an exciting place for Medichem to network and do business.

On 10th November His Excellency Dr. Edward Fenech-Adami, President of Malta, paid a visit to our facilities in Celrà, Spain. President Fenech Adami was accompanied by his wife Mrs Fenech-Adami and a delegation of the Maltese Government.
In 2004 Medichem started the construction of a new manufacturing facility in Hal Far, Malta with a total surface area of 8,800 m2 which includes a fully equipped R&D laboratory.
92% of the personnel recruited for the plant are Maltese.

Medichem inaugurated its new production plant in Hal Far in Malta in November 2005.
The plant is equipped with the state-of-the-art equipment and has been designed with the most demanding environmental and quality standards for the development and production of APIs and intermediates, with full adherence to the Good Manufacturing Practices.
The total surface area of the new facilities is 8,800 m2 which includes a fully equipped R&D laboratory. The plant offers a potential reaction capacity of 30 m3.

Since 1985 our plant in Celrà in the province of Girona in Spain has been regularly inspected and found acceptable by the FDA.
For the second consecutive time, an FDA inspection in Celrà resulted in no form 483 (no observations were noted) underlining our commitment to the highest quality.

Medichem inaugurated a new laboratory in the PCB, the Science Park of the University of Barcelona.
This state-of-the-art laboratory has an extension of 200 m2 and is fully equipped with standard equipment and also with automated equipment for performing parallel chemistry and optimization.
Medichem has another laboratory at the Celrà Industrial Park factory (province of Girona).
These two laboratories give us research capacity to cover our present R&D needs and are prepared for expansion to cope with the company’s future requirements.
The Barcelona’s Science Park offers us a unique framework to boost the exchange of collaborations between academic and business research groups.
